INTP Interviewing Issues
From “The Secret Lives of INTPs”. Link
Average Person: “I was the best troubleshooter in the department.” (Translation: I was the best troubleshooter in the department, unless it involved the website.)
Result: Interviewer is impressed.
INTP: “I was the best troubleshooter in the department, except for when it came to the website.”
Interviewer: “So you’re not good with websites?”
INTP: “Well, actually I’m fairly good [Translation: amazing] at website architecture, but my coworker was better.”
Interviewer: “Do you think you’ll be able to handle our website?”
INTP: “I can’t see any reason why not.” [Translation: Your website appears to be so simple that a child
could manage it, but I suppose you just never know. Until then, it’s best not to make presumptuous
declarations that could actually turn out to be inaccurate. Anyway, I hate showing off.]
Result: Interviewer notes that INTP is weak in the area of website maintenance.
How to watch “Fatmagül” with English subtitles
Instructions for watching “Fatmagülün Suçu Ne” with English subtitles.
Episodes are available on the official youtube channel for the show. They’re not HD, but they’re good enough.
Unfortunately the videos on youtube don’t have English subtitles.
There’s a slightly annoying way to watch episodes via VLC, by pasting the URL of the youtube videos into the “open network …” dialoge, then downloading the subtitles file and loading it in VLC.
There’s an easier way though, via http://amara.org
First of all, something about the subs:
For some reason, most episodes are available in 2 ways:
- one full episode
- two parts: part1 and part2
For the early episodes of season 1 (up to about 18?), the subtitle files are only available as 2 parts, not as one part. That is, if you try to watch the “full” version of the episode, you won’t find a subtitle file for it. (There are ways to merge the subtitle files … but let’s not get into that).
This forums has youtube links to all episodes as well as download links for the subtitle files:
Here’s how to watch an episode on amara.org
First, find the youtube link for the video of the episode you want to watch, and paste it on the field on the homepage of amara.org and hit the “subtitle” button.
You’ll be redirected to a new page that amara.org created for that video, for instance, here’s the link for the video for episode 62:
Under the video box there’s a box to select the langauge; choose english.
(For some episodes, the langauge names are messed up, or someone uploaded the wrong subtitles - if you get the wrong subtitles, just keep trying the other available langauges).
Play the youtube video, and it will have subtitles!
But, there’s a problem: if you make the video full screen, the subtitles won’t be displayed.
So, here’s information about how to fix the video size. You will need to open the “developer console” in chrome or firefox.
In chrome, you can open the console by hitting the “menu” icon -> tools -> developer tools. You can also see the shortcut; in OS X the shortcut is cmd-alt-i
Fix wrong aspect ratio
For some videos, the aspect ratio is wrong, and the video is stretched horizontally .. to fix it, paste this code in the console and hit enter:
$("object").attr("style", "width: 480px !important; margin-left: 70px")
This will force the video player to shrink the width a little bit (to compensate for the horizontal stretch) and keep the video in the center of its container (so the subtitles appear in the correct place).
You don’t have to do this for all episodes; only if the aspect ratio is wrong, as is the case in episode 63.
Here’s a comparison before and after fixing the aspect ratio:
Making the video bigger
Almost full screen viewing ..
Paste this code in the console:
document.body.style.zoom = "250%";
pos = $("object").offset();
This will zoom in on the video and make it two and a half times bigger.
After you paste this code, close the console and make the browser full screen (the browser, not the youtube video).
